Distance learning has over the years become one of the great medium of learning for students. This can be attributed to various factors such as time flexibility, location flexibility and also allowing the students’ ability to work and study at the same time.
With the advancements in technology and availability of the good internet, even students in remote areas who cannot travel to a different city or state or enrol for a full-time course due to various reasons can now acquire a degree through distance and make a successful career.
Though distance learning is a good option, there is a limit to the kind of courses which can be or rather should be done through distance learning. For example, courses related to IT, Management, Digital marketing, etc. can be easily done through distance as it just requires a computer and a good internet connection.
However, it doesn’t work for Paramedical courses as paramedical training cannot be conducted over the internet. The major reason for this can be attributed to the fact that Paramedical field involves more practical learning and thus requires the physical involvement of the students.
Though there are educational institutions which provide distance courses in Paramedical, these courses are not recommended at all. Experts state that the job of a paramedical requires him/ her to interact with a lot of people on a daily basis and carry out various jobs which are skill based.
These job-related skills along with skills such as interpersonal skills and communication skills can only be developed by having a physical exposure to such an environment. So enrolling for distance courses in paramedical is nothing but waste of time, money and efforts.
Instead the students should opt for the vocational training which is currently the best option for a student wishing to make a career in the field of Paramedical. Also, as the healthcare industry is facing the shortage of skilled Paramedical professionals, opting for a vocational course has a great scope for students as they are job-oriented.
Paramedical Institute of Education and Research (PIER) under the affiliation of Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) has been providing vocational Degree and Diploma courses in paramedical courses. By undergoing the training at PIER and with the experience gained during the course one can easily secure Good-Paying Jobs in leading private hospitals, government hospitals, and diagnostic centers.
